GIFT Of LIFE

poem by: Stephanie Warwick
Written on Nov 13, 2015

The life you give is not yourse to live.
So give me life, health and your heart.
Care for me till the day we part.
I hear your voice, I hear your songs,
The noise I hear its from your heart.
I hear the beat (bdum) (bdumm) (BDUMM).
That is you... my mammy.
The love has already begun.
You help me grow.
You help me survive.
You help me hide.
Until I am strong enough to come outside.
I pray to God that you can see.
What a brilliant mother you already mean to me.
I cannot speak, I cannot see.
My mind is still growing, my body to.
I know you will be there to help me through.
9 month of songs, 9 months of love.
I'm ready to come outside and see.
I know that voice means something to me.
The day I was born.
I survived, I'm free, you opened your arms and gave love to me.
healthy enough that's all I asked.
Few complications but you gave life to me.
An early showing of me to you.
38+1 and I made it through.
Being a mammy that is your task.
Be good to me is all I ask.
Shouldnt be to hard it will come natural to you.
They'll be challenges and hard times to.
Mammy I'm here, right here with you.
