THE GUN

poem by: Teresa Skyles
Written on Nov 07, 2015

It started one very quiet night.
The kids in bed tucked in tight.
I heard a door slam from a car.
He was home from the bar.
Falling down drunk as he came in.
I knew right then I was going to
              commit a sin.
He started cussing the kids and
        calling them names.
Right then I knew I wasn't playing
                  his games.
Then he looked at me with a evil eye.
He said "hey b**ch tonight you die".
The day began oh so nice.
I pick up the gun and never thought
                  twice.
I never thought about what I'd done.
Killed my husband with his own damn gun.
