Time moves by, I stop to see
Time don't mind, just ticks past me
A thing called fate, each "decision" I make
Still leads to the end of the road

From the get-go, I didn't know I started down a road
Full of endless possibilities that make themselves known
But, I'm set pre-determined, with my baggage in tow
Heading toward the end of the road

There's a fork in the road ahead, stuck in place
The fork is just reminding me to keep walking straight
It's a symbol of "choice", on an empty plate
Stuck starving at the end of the road

I walked into the crossroads on high alert
Continuing further might lead me worse
The signs read 'good', 'bad', 'better', 'reverse'
Each pointing to the end of the road

There's a cross in the crossroads that represents faith
It's a cross between North, East, South, West, straight
It's a symbol of "choice", but bound by fate
Crossing paths until the end of the road

Others wander, while I wonder which "decisions" they make
I wonder why they wander toward directions called fate
The compasses and clocks are either broken or late
Lost somewhere near the end of the road

And, if I "decide" to leave this crossroad scene
It's still something not left up to me
What I "decide" is where I'll be seen
Walking straight along the end of the road

I could barricade, embrace the shade
And wait...while others "choose" their way
But, then every day would be every day
As they turn toward the end of the road

I could wait and wait, tempt my own fate
But, I'd be stuck in place, with no direction to take
So, I bent the fork, and a path gave way
Perhaps not the end of the road

A fifth sign, now shown, with weeds overgrown
Pointing toward a road...far, far from home
I leaned in close, with my baggage in tow
It read: 'To The End Of The Road'
