Not So Strange

poem by: Ernest Areheart
Written on Apr 28, 2015

It starts with waves of empathy
Eroding the mountain of regret
Moonlight shines upon an empty street
The road of remorse that reflects to forget

The tense of the past is like a blade of grass
Sitting so sharp and fine with wonder
The future is a rain that forever lasts
The present is wrought by rolling thunder

Of all the things that are said and done
Absorbed by the rings of the bells unsung
Are illustrated in the tones of some
And whispered through the simple tongues

Although your thoughts are filled with anguish
And haunted images share your bed
Confide within your hearts own language
And find a skin of doubt to shed

It ends with a retreating tide
The horizon gives a glimpse of orange
The black and grey soon subside
The feeling of love is not so strange

Hi EA, read all of your poems, seriously impressed with your consistent ability to put words together that can be identified and related to by most... This poem is deep and simple at the same time... I relate to challenging yourself to put meaningful verses together with rhyme... I love the second last verse, so simple but so profound... Thanks for sharing :-) Rod
