Abyss of The Unseen

poem by: Joshua JayShades Legister
Written on Nov 20, 2024

Fragments of memory,
not my own,
pull me into a place where light bends
and the air hums with whispers I can’t understand.

The ground dissolves beneath me.
I am crawling through time,
through battles with beings too vast, too alien
creatures whose shapes
my waking mind cannot hold.

An ancient force grips me,
hurls me toward the void.
I am falling endlessly,
the wind a scream in my ears
and I think:
This is it.
But I never touch the ground.

I wake, gasping,
my heart pounding like a war drum.
Was it a dream?
Or was it my spirit, fleeing this body,
this plane of reality?
The line between what is real and imagined
blurs in the light of my third eye.
