Pinch

poem by: Siren Song
Written on Dec 24, 2022

It barely hurts, I promise
She brushes my hair from my face
Just a quick pinch, then it’s over
A pinch how hard?
Do you want me to show you?
Yes

Later, holding completely still while a nice young woman delivers three shots to my left arm, she tells me how brave I am
See? What did I tell you?
It hurt more when you pinched me
The nurse laughs, my mother laughs, and I laugh too, and I never forgive her
