A Script I Made For Theatre

This is a script I wrote for theater. It is a story about a post apocalyptic world and is centered around a character named Neil. It is written for radio, so the sound effects are tailored for radio.

Neil: Thunderstorm in Background, Recording device button click Neil’s log, day 128: The infection continues to spread; I have yet to find a single survivor. I need to find a place to get away from the rain fast. I think I see a survivor in the fog up ahead, I think I’ll try and get to him. Zombie growl Crap! Shotgun loading, Shotgun shot I see a radio station; I will stay there for the night. Button Click

Neil Walks to Radio Station, Rain continues

Door Opens Slowly 

Sinamoi: Hello? Is anybody there? Gun loads

Jim: ANYBODY THERE?! I GOT DIS SHOTGUN! I WILL SHOOT YOU DEAD!!!

Neil: Woaahhh. Down there, I’m not infected.

Sinamoi: Sorry, about jimmy, he gets a little excitable.

Neil: Ya, I can see that. I’m Neil.

Sinamoi: My name is Sinamoi, John Sinamoi. And this is my friend…

Sinamoi gets interrupted

Jim: JIM, MY NAME IS JIM.

Sinamoi: He’s a couple diamonds short of a bracelet.

Neil: It’s ok. What is this place?

Sinamoi: Oh, this is our little fortress. It’s nothing really. Just something pa whipped together.

Neil: Who’s pa?

Jim: PA IS MY PA!!!

Sinamoi: Pa is Jimmy’s dad.

Neil: Where can I find Jimmy’s dad?

Jim: MY PA IS HERE! PAAAAAA!!!!

Pa: Footsteps coming down stairs What you want boy!

Neil: I’m sorry sir, I just came in here hoping to rest here for tonight. Uh, my name’s Neil.

Pa: You know how to shoot a gun?

Neil: Come again?

Pa: In a sarcastic tone Did I stutter?

Neil: Sorry sir, yes I know how to use a gun. Why, I shot a few zombies on the way here.

Pa: Boy’s looks like we got a new edition to our little group.

Sinamoi: Yay! I was hoping he’d stay!

Neil: I’m sorry, what?

Pa: Boy, do you need a hearin aid? You won’t last five more days out there alone!

Neil: Why, thank you sir.

Pa: Call me pa!

Sinamoi: Oh I can just feel the love!

Jim: I can’t feel nothing.

Sinamoi: It’s ok Jimmy.

Pa: Now boys, were running low on food, why don’t Neil and Jim go find some.

Sinamoi: Oh darn, I wanted to go.

Pa: Now Sinamoi, we both know your too delicate to be goin out there with all them zombies.

Sinamoi: Oh, fine.

Neil: We’re guna head out.

Pa In a shouting voice: Don’t forget to grab a gun on your way out!

Jim: I GOT MY SHOT GUN Shotgun loading

Neil: Hey do you mind if I take the M16.

Pa: Go ahead boy just be carful with it.

Neil: I will M16 loading

Door opens

Jim: BYE BYE!

Door closes, Wind, Footsteps

Neil: So Jim, how long have you been living in that radio tower?

Jim: I BEEN THERE SINCE THEM ZOMBIES CAME TO TOWN!

Running footsteps, Zombie growls, M16 Fires, Blood splatter, Moan, Body fall

Neil: Holy crap!

Jim: HEY, I WANTED TO SHOOT THAT ZOMBIE!

Neil: Next time, kay?

Jim: ALRIGHTY!

Neil: Hey, I think I see an abandoned Wal-Mart over there, Radio “KSHH” Neil to Pa, come in Pa over Radio “KSHH”

Pa: Radio “KSHH” Boy what you want? Radio “KSHH”

Neil: Radio “KSHH” I see a Wal-Mart Radio “KSHH”

Pa: Radio “KSHH” What you standin here talking to me about it? Go to it! Radio “KSHH”

Neil: Radio “KSHH” I’m going over there now Radio “KSHH”

Footsteps, Door opens, More footsteps

Neil: Look alive Jim.

Jim: COME OUT HERE ZOMBIES! I GOT MY SHOTGUN!!!

Zombie screams, Running Footsteps, Shotgun shooting, Blood splatter, Zombie moan

Neil: Good shot, I’m going to head over to the canned food aisle. You go over to the drinks, kay?

Jim: ALRIGHTY!

Footsteps, Rummaging through cans, Zombie screaming

Jim: AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Bite sound, Gun falling on floorq2

Neil: Jim? Jim!

Running

Neil: Jim!!!

Sliding on knees

Neil: Oh my gosh Jim, what have you done?

Jim: Moans in pain

Neil: I got to get you back to Pa! Grunts and lifts Jim over sholder

Running, Zombie Screams, M16 shooting, blood splattering, Body’s falling, Doors slam

Sinamoi: Back so soon?

Neil (In a worried tone): Where is Pa!?

Sinamoi: What’s the matter? Gasp Is that Jimmy?

Neil (Shouting): Yeah, where is Pa!

Footsteps walking down the stairs

Pa: What’s all the commotion?

Neil: Jim was bit!

Pa: Well put him on the table boy!

Body is thrown on a table, Glass breaks

Pa: Ahh, hes been bit in the arm. Were guna have to cut it off.

Jim: NOOOOOO!!!! Starts to seize, Moans like a zombie

Pa: We got to cut it off now!

Jim: Moans like a zombie Running footsteps, Jump, Bite

Pa: Sinamoi!!!

Desert eagle shoots, Shells drop, Body drops

Neil: It had to be done.

Scilence

Neil: Pa? Pa?

Pa: Don’t you dare call me Pa boy.

Neil: Ummm sir?

Pa: I loved those boys, and you took em from me! Now I’m guna take you!

Neil: Alright, calm down sir. It wasn’t my fault…

Pa interrupts

Pa: BULLCRAP! YOU COULD HAVE SAVED HIM! OR AT THE VERY LEAST SINAMOI! NOW PICK UP THAT PISTOL! I AINT GUNA FIGHT AN UNARMED MAN!

Neil: I don’t want to fight you.

Pa: Well you got ten seconds before I shoot you full of holes!

Neil: I’m not going to

Pa: Five seconds boy!

Neil: Crap.

Gun loading, Running

Pa (in a wisper): Now that’s more like it

Footsteps

Pa: WHERE ARE YA BOY! YOUR TEN SECONDS ARE UP!

Gunshot

Pa: I’M GUNA FIND YA! There you are.

Neil: Hello sir.

Pa: So it comes down to this, a good old-fashioned standoff.

Silence, Gunshot, Body drop, Footsteps, Door slams, Silence

Neil: Recording device button click Neil’s log, day 130: I begin to walk alone again. I have learned one thing from this. people will always turn on you. Things haven’t changed since the outbreak. I guess this is what I get, solitude. It’s only a matter of time before I go crazy or end up like Jim. So with that said, goodbye. Gunshot, Static
