Back in the castle I suddenly felt uneasy maids seemed to be staring and even occasionally whispering amongst one another which anyone who knows anything about the elven knew this was odd behaviour. I put it down to my casual training gear though that was really nothing new, still i hurried back to my room to change.

In my dressing room my swift lady in waiting had me bathed and dressed in what appeared to be a royal blue gown of human design. I was baffled by this but my lady in waiting just cut me off saying she needed all her concentration for my hair. She braided and curled it till it sat in a neat pile atop my head. It did look exquisite but it left me wondering why I had been dressed up like this.

Still I admired it as she spritzed me with perfume before heading out of the room to clean my training gear. I frowned at my reflection in the mirror just as the knock came on my apartment door. I hummed tunelessly to myself as I reached the door opening it.

There stood my father’s butler I guess you could call him and Sir Yorin who would not meet my gaze and instead attempted to bore a hole in the wood of my door using the anger in his eyes.

“Yes Thomas what has brought you to my door ?” I smiled as I asked.
“Your father has requested your presence in the banquet hall princess,” Thomas stressed the word princess, he had never really liked me since I accidentally knocked a bottle of red wine onto one of my mothers gowns when I was younger, he had adored her. Still it bugged me that I hadn’t changed his opinion of me yet so I was always nice to him.

“Lead the way then,” I said gesturing out the door. Yorin casually strode beside me as Thomas lead the way to the banquet hall.
“Princess,” was all Yorin said and I nodded in response knowing that anything that could aggravate Yorin was probably something I should worry about.

We hastened through the castle the sun starting to set and the maids clambering around to coax the magic lights to life, the maids were starting to distract me with their staring and I soon fumbled on the skirts of my dress nearly tripping, Yorin offered me his arm to hold and I smiled up at him in thanks and that was the first time he really looked at me. The look started out one of shock and then it changed to something that resembled sadness before the anger slid back on like a mask and he almost turned away from me as he pulled me forward through the castle.

Thomas stopped in front of the banquet hall doors and I released Yorin’s arm suddenly nervous. Thomas scanned over my outfit before tucking a loose hair behind my ear and pulling me into a uncharacteristic hug.
“I’m so sorry, she would never have stood for this,” Thomas whispered, I gasped and he hurried off back the way he came before I could reply. I looked to Yorin for reassurance but the sad look once again filled his eyes before he knocked on the banquet hall and knocked. A maid cracked the door open he exchange a few quiet words before the door opened fully and the maid ushered me in.
