Broken

poem by: Andy Wilden
Written on Dec 17, 2014

Broken pieces here they lay,
sharply broken in disarray.
Scattered around like broken dreams,
It's all I have left or so it seems.

Angels above or demons below,
empty hands of life to show.
Broken pieces my hands cut deep,
Too sad to cry, too broken to weep.

Anguish and pain in the dark where it hides,
deep in my heart, where loneliness abides.
Outwardly seeming at peace with the world,
no one but me knowing the emptiness held.

My thoughts not my own, resentment I cling,
no song in my heart, no love can I sing.
Humbled and broken, mistakes I have made,
Of a love that is lost, one beautiful warm glade.

Always trying to look forward regretting the past,
how much can I bear? How long can I last?
All I know, is to try and smile each day,
To live for what's right, and survive, I pray.
