My Dad Bob.

poem by: Patricia Wilton-King
Written on Oct 20, 2014

Daddy, I wish I had known you
So long ago
Why did you leave me
And not let me know.

They say that you loved me
Whilst you were still there
Reading me stories
And stroking my hair.

You held me up high
Said you'd give me the moon
Then why did you go
And leave me so soon.

Something happened,
Between you and my mum
The happy times ended
The laughter, the fun.

For way too long
There was no mention of your name
And I was too young
To apportion blame.

When you passed over
You were alone
I would have wrapped you in love
If only I'd known.
