The Hope

poem by: John Salvetti
Written on May 04, 2018

The hope - it saved me
Then it took away what it gave me.
I can’t believe that it played me.
I thought I knew better.

I saw colors I’d forgotten.
I smelled things that weren’t rotten.
I enjoyed the world I was brought in.
I felt the warm sunny weather.

The seasons, they change.
Happiness fell as the fall came.
Despair came running while calling my name.
It seems Despair and me were meant to be together.
