CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONES

Slade’s Christmas single was
a cracker, a classic hit indeed.
And I admired Band Aid’s effort,
the world they tried to feed.

Benny Hill once denied T.Rex, I
never forgave ‘Ernie’ for that!
There’s been some turkeys as
well, all X Factor rubbish and
tat!

In 75 Bohemian Rhapsody was
Christmas number one by Queen,
Mud were ‘Lonely’ one
Christmas, a classic Christmas
theme.

The Beatles hold the record;
they claimed the top spot four
times,
And ‘Lydia Pinkham’ became
Lily The Pink, full of playful
rhymes.

Elvis Presley shook us up,
with a very Blue Christmas
on his own,
And Shakin’ Stevens, also
popped up – with Merry
Christmas Everyone!

Boney M’s, Mary’s Boy Child,
shot to number one,
While Johnny Mathis sang;
When A Child Is Born.

Bing Crosby sang of a White
Christmas, together with David
Bowie,
David Essex sang of A Winter’s
Tale, and earned a lot of money!

Now they’ve brought Elvis back,
together with Susan Boyle,
Singing; “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”,
they really sound so special!

Who will be the number one, and
grace our Christmas top spot?
I’ll leave that thought with you,
my friends, merry Christmas,
now off I trot!
