Bohemian Spirit

poem by: Allan P Stevens

-
Raised in the arms of a bohemian woman
Free thinking guardian with spiritual grace
Showed me the essence of being human
Taught me how to live in a natural way
-
Don’t need a preacher man for inner guidance
Always been encouraged to think for myself
I could never fit in a world of dull compliance
My free born spirit will survive without help
-
Working nine to five just to satisfy the rich man
Or, on the nightshift with vacant zombie eyes
Paid in peanuts with a much reduced lifespan
I won’t be sucked in by their two faced lies
-
Romantic and artistic are my type of thought
I see a perfection in the most delicate things
Mother Nature has used these thoughts before
Take a close look at fragile butterfly wings
-
Maybe I’m a dreamer wanting another chance
Maybe I’m just a coward who hates growing old
If I could turn my years over to make a new start
I would spend more time watching nature unfold
-
Bohemia means different things to many others
For me, it’s about an alternative way of life
Normal is little more than a cycle on the washer
Much of what we do is just a waste of time
-
Oh yes, much of what we do is a waste of time.
