My Destiny

poem by: Allan P Stevens
Written on Nov 17, 2017

Well, they tried to deny me
The destiny to which I was born
They deceived and lied to me
Even treated me with scorn?
I was the outcast of the family
Born out of wedlock and faith
Said I would have no morality
So they quietly gave me away
They buried the truth so well
The web of deceit was cast
Handed me into a life of hell
Until the day, I was free at last
Still they pretend I don’t exist
I would cause family shame
I was not going to be missed
They never do speak my name
I cannot truly explain how I feel
As I write it down each word
Somehow it becomes unreel
Yet, the truth must be heard
I will not be denied my destiny
I will not remain in the dark
I shall pursue my aims endlessly
Upon this world, shall I make my mark

An interesting read and my heart goes out to you. No one should be shamed for being born. We don't ask to be born and we all need love. Keep on trucking as the saying goes. Janet

There is no shame in being born out of "wedlock"..........but long ago women had shame forced upon them.....good poem..
