Thanks for the Memories

poem by: Paddy Clegg
Written on Nov 07, 2017

I wishfully think as I reminisce
Of all the things I think I've missed
Then I come to the conclusion
My life was chock-full of delusion

I pulled the wool over my own eyes
Impetuousness my new disguise
And like a shroud I wore attitude
So close that no-one could intrude

I wasn't to know; I was unaware
It was in need of constant repair
I was matured by looking forward
And seeing a way of being stalwart

Perceived delusions still remain
From what my memories contain
A subjective opinion that can only be
Brought about by relativity

I feel these images will become
The life of which I am the sum
As I recollect my uncertainties
I say, Thank you for the memories
