These Days

poem by: Lily Waites
Written on Nov 01, 2017

I'll never stand tall.
I'll never be saved.
I'll never not be small.
I'll never be free from it all.
These days, I just feel alone.

I'll always be lost.
I'll always be afraid.
I'll always know of the cost.
I'll always know the mistake I made.
These days, I just feel invisible.

I might be uncertain.
I might be unsure.
I might carry a burden.
I might get lost within the lore.
These days, I just feel clueless.

But now I know what I can do,
to stop people from hurting kids like you.
I can be stronger for you, if not myself.
I can be proud, I can stand tall,
I can learn to rise above it all.
These days, I just want to protect you.
