I Was Found, Only To Be Lost Once Again

To Zoe, who I don't even know.
You've been on my mind for awhile.
I've watched you grow.
Nothing completes me more than to see you smile.
The way you play in jazz band is like nothing I've seen.
I just wish you could see me.

To Zoe, who I don't even know.
I watched you walk around the school.
Watching people set the bar so low.
As they teased you and mocked you, so they would look cool.
You look so lonely, just like I am.
I just wish you could see me.

To Zoe, who I don't even know.
Your brother is gone, you are in shock.
Your brother, did he fall, or did he let go?
Your brother can no longer run amok.
Your brother can no longer see.
I just wish you could see me.

To Zoe, who I now know.
I see us now, hand in hand.
Let's hope for our love to grow.
Wouldn't a life together be grand?
You like me for me and nothing else.
I guess now you see me.

To Zoe, who I now know.
We've been together awhile.
I will eventually reap what I sew.
I wish I could continue to see your smile.
But I will tell you the truth now.
I guess now you see me.

To Zoe, who I will never know.
I've lied to you this whole time.
If only I told the truth from the get go.
If only I didn't cross that line.
But I did, and I do...
I don't think you'll see me now.

I can deeply agree to the title. I might write something with a similar title. Once again another lovely poem, Lily. Seems to me that you can write complete lives in poetry if you want to. Keep writing. Much loved ^^. -T

Thank you very much, Taha. Although, I fear that I cannot write as well as I'd like to. Thank you for the ongoing support. PS: Your own works? Stunning!

Sincerly, Me

poem by Lily Waites

I see them now. I'm watching my mother, my father and Zoe, who I don't even know. I'm watching Evan, who created a false persona of me. I'm watching the project of my namesake grow. I'm watching Jared and Alana, waiting to see...... Read more
