Soul

poem by: Tiana H
Written on Jul 24, 2017

I stopped believing that a soul was found in a person,
feeling doubtful when looking at empty hearts
of passersby.

But that changed when I found yours
and I know how your soul breathes in me.
It engulfs me.
And even a nun in the church pews
can’t keep herself from staring into the depths of your eyes.

And you look like rain.
And like fallen leaves on an October day.
And you pour onto me like
nothing in this world could make me
more heavy.

Our connection is better than what they show
in the movies.
I want to turn off the lights
and only feel how your silhouette
holds me.

And I want to know you.
I want to know you deeply.
