Love Songs

poem by: Paul Stephens
Written on May 24, 2017

Just laying here listening to love songs
The lyrics transcending the arts
Sharing the thoughts of so many
Must be the way most good loving starts

Written about by so many
Expressing mostly their sadness and pain
For most it's something we relate to
As we listen again and again

Without the sadness we would have no feelings
Our emotions would have no intellect
We'd be sterile and notably boring
No memories to recall and reflect

So when you hear a good love song
You will know that you're not on your own
The feelings you feel are universal
These experiences all help us grow
