Thoughts Upon A Sleepless Night

poem by: Julius Brian Cruz
Written on May 23, 2017

Time is ticking by, everyone is all straight and fast.
Work here work there, until when would this cycle last?
I sit and ponder, wondering about life.
It's damn too short, yet full of endless strife.

Did we ourselves, made living in this world hard?
Chasing in fitting in, following the social standard.
Does money, fame, and power, truly bless us with happiness?
Or are we just hiding beneath the gold, our innate weaknesses?

Me? I may never know the answer.
Just scribbles and scrawls, upon a piece of paper.
I may sound smart, but really I'm just a writer.
Turning my words into art, through rhymes and letters.

So as I end this poetry, of words and verses.
Try to find an answer as well, as you go through life's phases.
We may never discover, what is there and what is beyond.
But we can still share laughter, making full of life's ticking second.
