Day After day

poem by: Paul Stephens
Written on May 19, 2017

Been cast adrift
So far out to sea
No one in my life
Would be searching for me

Best to be forgotten
Like I didn't exist
There's not been a time
When I have been missed

Why was I put here?
To suffer this way
Consumed by loneliness
Day after day

A victim of crime
Although I bare the guilt
A life sentence was cast
No reprieve will be felt

I'll just keep on drifting
In this turbulent sea
Until my days are over
Then I will be set free
