That One Thing

poem by: Melanie Krug
Written on May 17, 2017

It haunts the soul till the day it dies.

The mind replays it over and over again, ripping away every ounce of sanity left inside.

The pain is still stuck growing stronger eating every piece of happiness one at a time.

The heart breaks worse every time the thought comes back, causing even more destruction to the body.

Every sad song drowns you in a sea of emotions making death its self seem better than life on earth.

It ruins you and makes you feel completely opposite than what you did already.

But what it also does is challenges the mind alone, and challenges its perception on life.

It knocks the body down to see how it picks itself up.

Every soul either passes or fails.

Allowing life to takes its course the hard way or sells itself to the devil taking the easy way.

But sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are indeed the same.

Life is a gift, and it’s not one you could buy on the shelf again once you have returned it.

The one thing that lasts forever is death.

Although life is only temporary it is both good and bad for a reason.

So don’t let that one thing make forever be forever.

Make forever be temporary because that’s the way it really is.

Persona
