Blood Connects us All

poem by: Piya Paul Mudgal

It flows through me, it flows through you,
Varying are its existing types, identical is the hue.
It carries along the ‘life-force’, the ‘prana’ that we call
No matter how much we differ outwardly, Blood connects us all
It’s dynamic, it’s vibrant, known as the ‘elixir’ of life,
Sharing it with someone unknown, drives away the constant strife.
The strife that the human conscience confronts every day,
To be unable to help humankind, even with all its strength at bay.

Blood donation is the most priceless gesture,
A cause to live for, brings life back to power.
Looked upon as the most noble deed, To donate blood to someone in need.
Donating blood brings smiles on million faces,
The one who receives and the one who graces.

Bound by its healing nature, a potion meant to cure
What can be more humble than this, an emotion so divinely pure?
Donating blood is the most priceless gift,
Instils kindness in the giving hearts and the ailing spirits lift.
It costs one nothing but gives someone back his entire world,
Alive comes the motionless, as through his veins the blood goes hurled.
By giving blood we give someone a precious piece of ourselves,
Two souls unite forever, making an eternal promise hard to delve.

Blood relations are made in heaven and meant to be destined,
Sharing blood in this mortal realm, creates new ones in this cosmic confine.
Gifts someone another chance to cherish life’s moments and little pleasures,
Another chance to witness sunshine and happiness beyond measures.
Diverging may be human belief, faith and ethnicity,
To save a life with a drop of life builds the foundation of humanity.
