Pain and Boredom

poem by: Shebin Thomas

Boredom strikes my heart
Boredom swallows me whole
It has overtaken my mind..
Just like a predator
It has consumed me whole

My mind wanders everywhere
Reaching the doors I shut,
Reaching the books I burnt,
A familiar pain returns
The pain of regret,
The pain of rejection,
The pain of life,
The pain of death.
My heart is grief stricken
And it’s this boredom that breaks open the wounds,
The wounds that once healed..

As I sit here,
I wait for all to end,
This boredom, this pain..
I quietly hope for its return,
The return of joy in my meagre life,
Hope for the death of pain..
I wait …
I wait..
