Reclaimation

poem by: Lilly Ellison
Written on Apr 02, 2017

The hardest thing I learnt to do
Was stop myself going back to you

And that enormous step
Made a change in myself

I won't conform as your pet
I won't be your self-help

I've grown so much
Since I left your grasp

I'm so happy to say
It can be left in the past

With my head held high
My eyes focused ahead

There shall be no sighs
Of any oncoming dread

My future looks bright
Now your taint isn't in it

I can reclaim my life
Every challenge, I will win it
