Deciduous

poem by: Gill Geeves
Written on Feb 26, 2017

A dry, brown leaf upon the ground
You might say, "Finished",
No longer green,
But still useful!
More easily ignited when touched by the flame;
More easily crushed, yes,
But adding fragrance, goodness and richness to the earth,
Helping and nurturing growth of newer life.
Or free to move and fly where the wind blows.
If I had the choice, I would rather be evergreen.
But....no choice
Except to grieve or to embrace the years with grace,
And be the best I can.
Decide!
Deciduous is not so bad if falling slowly, gently into Father's arms.
