The Deeper the Love..

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Feb 26, 2017

"Many, many years ago, when I was just a boy,
I met a special girl, she brought me so much joy.
Mary was still a schoolgirl, so beautiful at just fifteen,
I was two years older, she was the best girl I'd ever seen.
Mary grew up in Toxteth, I was from Edge Hill,
then I "emigrated " to Kirkby, I had so much time to kill.
I was going nowhere, had no ambition in my life,
Mary gave me a reason, when she eventually became my wife.
As the years have tumbled by, with two daughters we've been blessed,
each with two children of their own, now as grandparents we're addressed.
Almost a lifetime..way on down the line, we've been smiled on by someone above,
the bond between us grows stronger, and the deeper is our love."
