She's Leaving Home...

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Feb 24, 2017

"Why do you just take me mum? every time that we have to go,"
but I was too young to understand, how could I possibly know?
Fleeing into the cold dark night, often in the rain,
Just me, and my poor mum, it's only now I feel your pain.
From Kirkby to Edge hill, a very long way to walk,
sometimes I heard you crying, you just didn't want to talk.
Our destination was Auntie Alice's, at 56 Boyton Street,
painful hours of walking, we need to rest our weary feet.
Once again my mum has left him, I hope this time for good,
but we always end up going back....I wished she never would."

Oh Frank, you experienced so much suffering in your young life, but something good came out of it, your poetry which is written from your heart, we don't know you personally but, we feel your pain and care deeply for you and wish you peace and love...my son's name is Frank too.

Thanks Gemma....I like it when one of my poems "touches a nerve"...and causes an emotion...because most of my poetry is created from my personal emotional experiences...👍🏻
