This isn't God

Explain me love.
Can’t you tell me love?
Sell me love
Just for an hour
Or two

This is not sweet love
This is sweet believing
Give me your believing
Let me feel it

God is a lie
Don’t you see?
Must I tell you?
God is a lie
God is a lie
Must I show you?

Now you see?
No?
You still believe?
Let me show you
Your dead dreams
Your dead hopes
Your dead mom

This isn’t your hopes
This isn’t your dreams
This is your life
You say you want to live
Living for something real
This isn’t real

Let the sun shine
And let the rain drop
Let your heart tell you lies
Let them tell you
“Well, that isn’t right”

God isn’t real
Don’t you see?
Must I tell you?
God isn’t real
God isn’t real
God is a lie

You say
“Well, you don’t know if it’s real-
Right?
Have you ever been in heaven”
Nah, but in hell

Yeah, God isn’t right
He’s just a lie
I think

I think you’re beautiful
This is not a lie

Geoffrey Brewer commented:
I share much of your thinking, and love your final couplet. Strikingly, starkly written.
