This Boy..

poem by: Frank Hornby .
Written on Feb 16, 2017

"With a sad, and troubled frown, this boy seldom cried,
behind the mask of a smiling clown, his true feelings he did hide.
This boy was arrogant, rough...even sometimes lewd,
to many people that knew him, sometimes this boy was brash, cruel, impudent, and rude.
This boy portrayed an image that was tough, and so full of pride,
sadly this boy always hid his gentle, loving, softer side.
This boy never really recovered from the death of Julia, his young mother,
so why should this boy be nice? Just why should this boy even bother?
This boy never felt the love of a father.... inside his anger did fester, and grow,
this boy was a teenager without parents, that he never got the chance to know.
His band shook the whole World! with a sound that gave millions such joy,
THE BEATLES! with Paul, George, and Ringo, and the genius John Lennon....this boy.
So just what was so special? Just why was there so much fuss?
Oh! John Winston Lennon, if you only really knew.........just how much you meant to us."

Great poem Frank. As a Lennon fan I knew this information but you summarized everything very succinctly. Great job! I can relate to this story. Feel like I've met my Yoko recently and hoping it pans out! Sometimes meeting the right person can be life changing.
