WILLOW TREE

Weeping willow, saddened tree
Do you really weep, are you sad like me
Thinning branches with light green leaves make a saddened dancing flowing gown
Tell me, do you really weep, are you sad like me, willow tree, are you feeling down
I pray that in the summer’s breeze, maybe you can raise a smile
For upon sunny day’s, I do feel some joy, if but for a while
I pray within my heart, that you’re not sad and your spirit does not reflect your name
For willow tree, you display such grace and beauty, within in your drooping frame
So willow tree, let us both sit together when times are bad
For willow tree, I find a peace and calm when ever I sit with you and I am sad
Under your cowl I sit and to you willow tree, all my sorrows I do confide
Under your cowl I sit and under your cowl I’m safe and from the world, I do hide
But now years have past and so today my sorrows are all but few and from the abuse and bully I am free
Weeping willow oh saddened tree, no longer need you weep for me.

Geoffrey Brewer commented:
'Weeping willow' has a lovely sound but does not convey the essential elegant joyful beauty of the tree. You employed the metaphor effectively. Glad you are now freed from former sorrows.
Christopher Russon commented:
Lovely poem Stuart. The willow tree is a beautifull tree like the words to your poem.
