Summer Fling

poem by: Stephen Dobson

Laying in my room
As I stare into space
Hours passing by
As I'm trying to escape.

Its me vs my mind,
1000 things to say,
Putting my thoughts on paper,
And locking them away.

Life became a battle
Many highs and lows.
Until I danced with her.
Several days ago.

That moment of time,
such a beautiful thing.
Like written in the movies.
Our summer fling.

Grabbing my hand,
And I follow her lead.
Looking in her eyes,
Heart filled with glee.

That curl in her lip,
The cutest thing of all
With a smile so bright
These things I adored.

Every second with her
I will cherish forever.
All those little things
We now share together.

As I think back in time,
So glad that she came.
I'll hold this in my heart,
Forever and ever babe.

You treated me so differently
Just like the real thing
I will never forget this,
Our summer fling.

George Griffiths commented:
Very moving, your technique is unique
Arch Angel commented:
I don't understand the 1st stanza; you're trying to escape from where?. Plus, I think you don't have to include the 1st and 2nd stanzas, because it kind if disorients the main point of the poem. But it's still good.
Christopher Russon commented:
Lovely poem with happy memories.
Nicho Mose commented:
That's what "flings" are for.
