On love january

poem by: Jose Valladares
Written on Jan 30, 2017

You could have been mine
But due to circumstances you chose not to

you could have given me a chance
But you doubted it would work

I believe in love, and I believe in freedom.

Love lasts forever when it gratuitously gives itself
And it does not last when it is based on a lie.

Love based on honesty, understanding, and forgiveness
 Is truly eternal.

I let it be, it is better this way, when love is not understood
It can not be grasped, and therefore it can not work.

We are all created equally free to love,
I accept this right, you have the right to love whomever you want.

Love is eternally free.

Geoffrey Brewer commented:
A touching, eloquent expression of sanity and life affirmation. Love can never be forced. It is uplifting to read these positive though sad sentiments, where others would descend into self pity, resentment and hopelessness.
