THE DONALD

poem by: Steven Godfrey
Written on Jan 24, 2017

January the twentieth ,two thousand and seventeen
I watched on TV, something I thought would never be seen .
President Donald trump sworn in , on Pennsylvania avenue ,
To make America great again is what he pledged to do .

People find him divisive , racist and of having little tact
Others think his whole persona is simply just an act
He may make things good again for our American friends
But if it all goes wrong who knows where it will end

The world will all be watching , Putin wants to get along
The middle East on fire , so much is still so wrong
Can these world leaders come together and give us peace
Or will the needless wars and killings never really cease

Not sure that Donald is the answer , I guess time will tell
But has there ever been a president that has made the world gel
Never in my lifetime have I seen such troubled times
Let us all hope things improve before the death bells chime .
