Silver Lining

poem by: Paul Stephens
Written on Jan 21, 2017

If you ever feel unhappy
Feeling down amongst your plight
Just remember that is normal
It's your God damn given right

But it's not your right to wallow
Like a piglet in the mud
You gotta pull yourself right up
Like all good people does

You've just got to look around you
Not think of what you've lost
More to the point stay positive
And realise that you're the boss

You make your own decisions
So call it as you will
Do you want your cup half empty?
As half full is better still

So when those storm clouds gather
Remember they will pass
And as the sun comes shining though
That silver linings there at last

Awesome! I know what it is like to be at the bottom of the barrel and have to claw my way back up, to survive the stuff that happened in my life. Depression after the fact is the worst part and I refuse to let it consume me so I fake it till I make it and write it out of my head. This poem is so uplifting, thank you Paul.
Paul Stephens commented:
Thanks Wendy, I hope this poem helps to take negative thoughts and turn them into positives. I wrote it for someone when they were feeling sorry for themselves and I recall it for myself when I'm feeling down and it usually gives me a lift.
