A giant of a man

poem by: Godfrey Georges
Written on Jan 08, 2017

Does money make a worthy man
wealthy beyond his best-laid plan?
To acquire things, property and people
So he can ascend to the world of the regal?
To set the world ablaze in fortune and fame
that life has become a Monopoly game?
To sit on High, and to look below,
At the highest mountains, rivers and plateau?
But then his mind rests; "is this be I aspire
To see life as money all the years till I expire?"
Is this all there is to life? Is there not more to the plan?
Does this make a giant of a man?

You see, the key to a man is all in his making
In dedicating his life from the time of his waking.
Days upon years, years upon decades,
Of acquiring knowledge, skills, and learned in all trades.
So that he can give back to his world, his family, and friends,
That life will have worth and meaning beyond ends.
Money is a tool, nothing less, nothing more,
It cannot make a worthy man, you will see this, I implore!
He will rest in repose, completing his best-laid plan;
The world will surely miss, a giant of a man!

I have heard many people say that they don't have much money but, they are rich and blessed because they have loving families and good friends, and that is what really matters as you have so eloquently expressed in this well crafted poem Godfrey.
Godfrey Georges commented:
ThankYou Cecilia.
