The Island

poem by: Christopher Russon
Written on Dec 20, 2016

I am living on an island
Surrounded by the sea
Howling winds and heavy waves
Are heading straight to me.

I live inside a cottage,
A fire and cosy room
In the morning I rise early
For the boats will come in soon.

I love this little island,
Together we will be
The power of the rising tide
Still we live in harmony.

The hawking sound of seagulls
The fishermen in the bay
The country pub where we all meet
At the end of a working day.

My cottage near the seashore
We are friends and not of foe
We live and bond together
As the mighty waters flow.

This story has a moral
A lesson that we can learn
When there is friction on this island
The tide can always turn.
