Yesterday

It never seems to end

as you lose another friend

when death comes grimly reaping

and he leaves the mourners weeping

 

How terrible the day

when someone fades away

and they join with those at last

who populate your past

 

So once again you start

with a broken mind and heart

as one more soul along the way

stays behind with yesterday
