Autumn Thunder Birds In Sky

poem by: Dan Miltz
Written on Dec 05, 2016

Sky ironed out in morn divine
On very November day cold
Rainbows born of peeping sunshine
O' Cloud dreams rush past the unrolled

Under the barely leafless trees
Masqueraded and hard to see
A bird lands on branchy trapeze
Humming bird laughs elusively

Yet tis' in that moment prevue
Sparkle of butterflies at glance
Capture shades of yellow, warm blue
As treetops sway to wind of dance

A secret life in windy air
Sultry skies in hues of grey, white
At moment birds, butterflies scare
The whole time sky cracking in sight

Pleading chilly branches above
Autumn rumble laughs merrily
Birds, butterflies lying in love
Thunder bang with bright symphony

O' Autumn now in thunder streaks
Spreading opulently past stars
Night revolves the sound birdland shrieks
End of the rainbow, yonder far
