The Last Chapter.

poem by: Christopher Russon
Written on Nov 22, 2016

The gates close for
The very last time
No more inhaling
Dust and fumes.

Fifty years body and soul
Now a brand new page
Has just been turned
With no turning back.

No hurry to wake from sleep
Or rise at the break of dawn
A lie in bed no need to rush
To the demanding factory call.

New colours now emerge
Another story starts
on a different trail of joy
Leading to the final stage.

The last chapter takes
Us to a fairy tale world
Reality can pass us by
So long concrete and steel.

Now living out our dreams
Treasuring every hour
Counting every blessing
Living our lives in leisure.
