Lonely Feelings

' LONELY FEELINGS'

Sitting in a room surrounded by many people
Be it at work or a wedding under a church steeple
The feeling of loneliness is never far away
I get a sinking feeling , it's how I'm meant to stay

Feeling detached from what life should be about
Why do I feel this way ?, I often want to shout
It's a meaningless life when you feel empty inside
Almost like you've paid the fare but never took the ride

I look at all the happy faces ,smiling all around
And I often find myself start smiling , then staring at the ground
The smile is then replaced with a watering in my eyes
It's like I want to open up but afraid to really cry

I guess I'm pretty shy ,not always been that way
Life events have conformed , making me feel like this today
How do you find the courage within to seek the change you need
When the general consensus is "it's all just in your heed"

I wish I could see the good in me , which others say they see
The smile , the kindness , the man I used to be
One day in the future perhaps it shall return
And give me back the spark inside for all to see it burn

Right now I fight these demons inside me every day
Hour by hour getting by , that seems to be the way
Always looking from within to find a way of healing
I am Steven and these are my lonely feelings .

A lost cause without a reason, the empty soul desperate to find a cure for his being. I hide in my loneliness, for there no one can hurt me but me. This lovely sad write could be about me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings!

Such a honist and well written poem reminds me of a t,v documentary lonely street.
Geoffrey Brewer commented:
I had similar feelings for many years (predictive text wrote 'tears!) I did emerge from it; the key to the exit (gradual) was communication and involvement. You are taking such steps - continue!
Frank Hornby . commented:
