Abandonment

You ask me to trust you,but you ask for something I can't give.
Inside me the frost has gone deep, and nothing grows here anymore.
The feelings remaining are dull.......muffled......as I wander in this fog......its deafening. It surrounds me....a familiar and feared blanket.........one that keeps the cold in.
The melodies of living have been encumbered by this black and white consciousness.
My "despair" is this covering,I have worn it so long that to remove it now, would leave me vulnerable. Please understand......I need it.
......but if you really believe in me,your eyes just may fool me .......if only for a moment.
Could I keep this moment?
You could just walk away!
You could keep that hope for me in your eyes and go.......
For if you stay it will leave your eyes and this moment will be gone forever.
