Disengaged Empath

Feeling what others feel, seeing what they see as well,
Can sometimes have appeal, but at times can be pure hell.
Their feelings become your own, a crisis can develop,
Sympathy is sometimes shown, the darkness does envelop.
Your very soul from within, as you hope to remain sane,
Forgetting where you have been, and your loss is now their gain?
Senses continue to rise, seems to be no end in sight,
Maybe if I close my eyes, everything will be alright.
Without my slightest consent, senses took over my mind,
Thoughts would fall into dissent, while I would try to be kind.
I would feed off of their mood, while trying to reconcile,
My nerves would become unglued, if only for a while.
Who am I would fill my mind, unable to clearly state,
Until I learned to unwind, transforming to love from hate.
