Letting Go

poem by: Gerry Legister
Written on Sep 13, 2016

The past memories which flooded my soul,
Overwhelmingly, was hard to let feelings go.

Each time tears came it became like the rain
praying for the day to get the sunshine

All the feeling of fear that lies within me,
I Confront them but they never set me free.

I look back at the past with regret,
Turning around and letting go what’s left.

Fear has torment, but love made me free.
The joy began to give me a new life of liberty.

Although some memories remain,
From all the things that brought so much pain.

I gained a better life the day I let go
And God restored my soul
