Drowning in a sea of depression

poem by: Roxanne Dubarry
Written on Aug 17, 2016

Drowning in a sea of depression,
while living in a world of poetic isolation.
Composing poetry, whenever I am at home,
instead of talking on the telephone.

Wondering if I am wasting my time of day,
while needing to forget how to be afraid.
Needing the comfort in my own life,
only found in the loving embrace
of Jesus Christ.

Drowning in a sea of self pity.
Please do not color it poetically
pretty. Color it deadly in your
own world. Pass this message
onward to boys and girls.

Drowning in a sea of loneliness,
and living in an unforgiving world.
Too much time spent in self pity,
and pain. Wondering who is
really the blame!

Drowning in a sea of misery!
Determined it will never defeat me.
Remember what happen to Robin
Williams!

Love in Christ Jesus!

Shanta commented:
According to psychology, the first sign of mental illness is - to know how another feels - I don't! What I know: we all suffer - only poets brave enough to speak up - others smile over the pain. I love your second last verse - and the last one too: you're one with the spirit of Christ - that's because the enemy tormenting us. Stay strong!
Christopher Russon commented:
Such a well written poem . The mind is so complexed.and people should be more aware of depression. It can affect any one at any time.
