Past and Present

poem by: Cecilia Crasto
Written on Jul 27, 2016

As I delve into the archives of my mind
What do I seek what will I find
Must I forever bring to the surface
Things of the past that have no purpose
Tomorrow the present will become the past
So we seize the moment and will it to last
Why do we ponder on that which has gone
Not focus instead on a brand new morn
Stories of our lives enhanced with the years
Retold with passion evoking laughter and tears
As we reach the ending the final encore
A candle burns brightly on a distant shore
I must channel my brain to think on the morrow
Clear away cobwebs forget all the sorrow
The mind can be turned in all directions
Thoughts of the past should be happy reflections
We are the product of what went before
Our destiny shaped by so much more
It's the nature of man to probe the past
That's the way it is-the die is cast.

I love it, many people live in the past, It's something I think a lot of people do. Yesterday has gone and we cannot have it back, tomorrow is the future. Nice thoughts and nice writing.
