Getting Old Sucks

poem by: M Losthere

It’s not always the mind that goes first
Maybe it’s the body that throws in the towel
When you realize you’re fat as hell
No wonder all my shirts are small
It’s not my mind who’s at fault
Getting old sucks

When I was young I was always skinny
The way I look now who would believe me
I had a hankering for Little Debbie cakes
And there was never enough beer to drink
Getting old sucks

I used to feel I was alive
I used to think I’d never die
But time has taught me a lesson
It’s too late to change the past
How did those years fly by so fast?
Getting old sucks

So now I am down to my last statement
It’s a little too late to reverse the trend
At my age I have very few friends
But I am encouraged as I write this poem

Little Debbie has come back home
Getting old sucks

I am aging by the day here when it's lonely here and nobody cares.

You might have become old, but Life goes on, and by writing beautiful poetry , you are giving back, so take solace in that. I love chocolate eclairs, who really cares? Taste buds must be indulged occasionally LOL
