Love, what are you?

Love is, and can be, a funny thing,
Sometimes, it can have a horrid sting,
But then it too, can, just make you sing.
When your heart goes pitter pat,
You can start to feel less flat.
Love is a feeling, an emotional state,
It can be, quite literally the opposite to hate.
This isn’t always so, sometimes we just do not know,
Loving you, Loving me, is this how it should be?
Insecure, anxious and maybe confusion,
Can this be Love or even assertion?
I have heard, some people, just use this word,
What does it mean, how does it feel?
Is it affection? Is it sexual attraction? Could it be a greeting, or mere satisfaction?
It is just a crazy thing this word, that can often just sing,
But, what does it actually mean?
How does it feel?
