Unclean

poem by: Ryan Barger
Written on Oct 29, 2015

Sitting on the sidewalk
Near the bus station
Bible open in front of me
I could see the plague and pestilence
It was all around me
It was all over me
In that moment
I understood unclean
I wonder
Did the Lord heal me?
Would I have died?
Did I have some deadly disease
Would I have lived
Do I understand where I was
And what I was seeing.

A hurting place
Where people are grateful
That the sun comes up every morning

In fact
In a place like that
It is a beautiful thing.
