Under the bridge

poem by: Ryan Barger
Written on Oct 29, 2015

By the side of the road
I couldn't take another step
Eating oranges
To gain strength
Because they were all I had
When suddenly

I looked behind me
To see if I was in the shadow of a bridge
That I hadn't noticed before
But there was no bridge there
I felt safe
And I knew
That I was in the shadow of the almighty
